Following on from Knuckleup's 'Kings of the North' press release Full Mount MMA can exclusively reveal that as well as a main event featuring international UFC veteran Jeff Monson Vs Neil Wain, UK fight fans will also be treated to a middleweight clash between John Phillips and Denniston Sutherland.
We are pleased to announce that Phillips 4-0 in his last 4 fights will defend his middleweight title against 'Mad Max'. In what will certainly be an explosive contest between two closely matched combatants, what holds the most significance is the fact that Sutherland was the last man to hand Phillips a cage loss with a submission due to strikes victory back in September 2009. Since then, Sutherland has gone only 1-2, losing his last 2 fights by spilt decisions against Jake Bostwick and Tom Watson respectively. It goes without saying that Phillips will be looking to avenge his only loss in almost 2 years, yet on the other hand Sutherland will be looking to show UK MMA fight fans that he has John Phillips' number. An intriguing contest awaits.
In the main event international superstar Jeff 'The Snowman' Monson will pit his grappling skills against the versatile striker Neil 'Old Skool' Wain. With 21 of Monson's 34 wins coming by way of submission and 6 of Wain's 7 victories coming courtesy of TKO this is without doubt a classic grappler versus striker match up.Monson has been on something closely resembling a world tour as of late, he last fought in the UK in March 2009 and since then has competed in Japan, Mexico, Brazil, America, France, Abu Dhabi and Australia. His signing is sure to be a big draw to fans across the length and breadth of the UK.
Knockout specialist Neil Wain will pose a definite threat to 'The Snowman' and has a UFC 89 appearance already on his CV - where he faced off against none other than recent interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin. Wain 2-0 in his last 2 fights, 1 of which came by way of submission, will be looking to add further momentum to his recent run of victories.
'Kings of the North' will take place on the 4th of September in the Bolton Arena - doors opening at 6pm - with a card that is quickly taking shape and a host of top MMA fights still to be announced this event is already looking like one that is not to be missed |
